Lots of new concepts are introduced in class 8th so students need to study hard and understand all the concepts. chapter 12 is also important and it has a good weightage in exams. 2-3 questions are based on the concepts of this chapter also, understanding of concepts of this chapter will help you in your higher classes.
4. What is the difference between direct proportion and indirect proportion explained with an example?
Example for Direct proportion - If a car travels for 100 kilometres in 10 lt. diesel, and in 20lt. diesel the car travels 200 km, similarly in 30 lt. Diesel the car travels for 300 km. Here we can see a direct relationship between the distance travelled and the diesel required in the car, if the quantity of diesel increases the distance travelled also increases.
Example for Indirect proportion- If we fill a water tank with 6 pipes, it takes 20 minutes, if we increase the no. of pipes to 10 then it takes only 10 minutes, and similarly if we increase the no. of pipes to 12 then it will take 8 mins to fill the water tank. Therefore, you can see that there is an indirect relation between no. of pipes and the time required to fill the water tank. As when the number of pipes increases then the time required decreases. Hence these two have inverse proportion.
5. Can you give an example for Variation explained in RS Aggarwal Solutions Class 8 Chapter-12 Direct and Inverse Proportions (Ex 12C) Exercise 12?
As explained in class 8th chapter 12 here is an example that explains variation: If we need to clean 200 plates in a hotel kitchen and we have 5 people to do the work then it takes 20 mins to complete the work. But, if we increase the no. of people working to 10 people then the work will be done in 10 minutes. In this example, the no. of people and time taken are related to each manpower, the manpower increases, and the time taken reduces. This is known as variation.
