⇒ \[\frac{a-3-12a-2}{6}\] = 1

⇒ -11a - 5 = 6

⇒ -11a = 6 + 5

⇒ -11a = 11

⇒ a = -1

2. The Ratio of the Present Ages of Two Sisters Rasika and Divya is 5:3. Six Years Hence the Ratio of their Ages will be 7:5. Find the Present Age of Divya.

Ans. The ratio of the present age of Rasika to Divya = 5:3

Let the present age of Rasika be = 5x 

Let the present age of Divya be = 3x

Age of Rasika 6 years hence = 5x + 6

Age od Divya 6 years hence = 3x + 6

According to the problem:

\[\frac{5x+6}{3x+6}\] = \[\frac{7}{5}\]

⇒ 5(5x + 6) = 7(3x + 6)

⇒ 25x + 30 = 21 x + 42

⇒ 25x – 21x = 42 – 30

⇒ 4x = 12

⇒ x = 3

Present age of Divya = 3x = 3 × 3 = 9 years
