Class 1 Chapter 11 CBSE Hindi Worksheets - Patang

Summary of the Chapter:-

Patang is a short and sweet poem for kids. The poem describes the "udti patang" , that is to say, a flying kite, in a beautiful and rhythmic manner. The poem starts with the Patang flying in the air from one point to the other. The patang fights with other patang in the sky and wins against them by cutting other kites one by one. Lastly, our Patang loses and gets cut and someone loots it. In such a manner the eleventh chapter describes the journey of the kite from the ground to the air and from the air to the ground. The poem uses beautiful language and figures of speech, especially repetition such as "sar-sar-sar" and "far-far-far", and a rich vocabulary such as "sapatas" and "ser".

About the Exercise

The chapter of course includes exercise and a worksheet.

  • The first exercise is to draw a kite in the given space. Then comes an interesting exercise "ab kavita banaaye" which is to say "now write a poem" in which the students are required to make a short poem of four lines by him or herself. The starting and ending are given in the first and the fourth line, while two words are given for the second and third line, and the students are supposed to fill the gap in between. The third exercise is "socho aur likho" meaning, "think and write" . It is nothing more than a simple exercise of question and answer. Since the poem is not more than eight lines anything asked straight from it will be too easy, therefore the questions are asked in a manner that forces the students to think and imagine.

  • The first question is regarding the experience of kite-flying, it asked what did you see when you went out with the kite? So the question is trying to make us think of our own experience and then to write an answer after reliving it again.

  • The second question is even more interesting, it asks where possibly a kite may land after being cut. It is interesting because it is really fun to think where our very own patang may have landed, did it land on someone's terrace, or did someone grab it using "langar", or it may have fallen in a water tank or something, the possibilities are endless.

  • After thinking heavily a lighter exercise is followed. This is a practical exercise that shows how to make a dog out of paper.

  • A clear and precise five steps Instructions regarding how to fold the paper are given.
