1. With reference to Chapter 13 of Class 4, why aren't fish in every part of the river?
Fishes are seen in the places where the river is clean and suitable for living. Many places are polluted, especially the places where big towns or cities are situated. Rivers in these areas are polluted because of domestic wastes and factory waste as well. Most of these wastes are not even treated properly which lead to poisoning the river. Fish die because of the pollution that results in poison for marine life and that is why not every part of a river has to fish.
2. As talked about in Chapter 13 of Class 4 EVS, how does a river change its colour?
River’s colour is colourless at the beginning. If seen from a distance, the colour will appear blue but that is mostly because of the reflection. The river changes its colour when it reaches a village or town. The colour change is because of water pollution. This pollution is done by throwing all kinds of waste in the river. People should not promote water pollution and waste should not be dumped into the rivers which makes it dirty and then no one can even consume its water.
3.Which part of the river is the cleanest according to Chapter 13 A River’s Tale of Class 4 EVS?
The cleanest part of the river is from where it originates. That is, the upper part of the river is the cleanest. This is because by the time it comes down, it has already been polluted by various human activities like throwing away domestic waste, factory waste, chemical waste, etc. The water gets very polluted and is non consumable for people. The water which is present at the source of the river is pure and also is uncontaminated by these poisons and that is why it can be consumed without any second thoughts.

No, water from the sea can not be consumed directly by us. Seawater is not drinkable because seawater is very salty or saline. We can not drink water that has too much salt in it. We can consume water from the rivers, as the water from the rivers is not salty. Seawater is used to make salt by different processes. People should stop contaminating river water as more than half % of water present on the earth can not be consumed as it is in the form of the sea. Water pollution should be stopped and awareness towards saving water should be promoted.
5. Studying Chapter 13 of Class 4 EVS, does water remain the same in ponds and rivers in the summer and rainy seasons?
No, the water of rivers and ponds does not remain the same every time of the year. The water level changes according to the season and environment. When there is a rainy season accompanied by a good amount of rainfall then rivers, ponds, and streams have their maximum water level that keeps increasing until winter approaches and the level comes to moderate. When there is summer, rivers, ponds, and streams dry up and the water level is at the minimum and that is why people should save as much water as they can.
