Photosynthesis is thus a well-synchronized two-step process.

It is often believed that photosynthesis and respiration are just opposite to each other and they are just the reversal of each other. However, this is not true. Each proceeds with a completely different set of steps. They differ only in the sense of the reactants and products they release and absorb. While the former uses carbon dioxide in one step and finally releases oxygen as a byproduct the latter converts the oxygen they breathe to carbon dioxide. However, they follow completely different mechanisms from each other where none of the steps are related to each other.
