Hyperbola Important Questions for JEE Advanced

The definition of the hyperbola is discussed below.

Let \[F_{1} and F_{2}\] be the two fixed points in the x-y plane. These fixed points are referred to as the foci.

  • The distance of a point (say a) on the hyperbola from the focus \[F_{1}\] be r1

  • The distance of the same point ‘a’ from the focus \[F_{2}\] be r2

Now,

  • \[r_{2} - r_{1}\]= a positive constant, (say k).

This difference between the distance remains the same for all the points on the Hyperbola.

Furthermore, the focus points F1 and F2 lie on the x-axis. So, the distance \[r_{2} - r_{1}\] can be termed as the distance between the x-intercepts of the Hyperbola.

A proper understanding of this concept is necessary, in order to get through with the sums on Hyperbola, in JEE Advanced 2025. Also, aspirants will be able to get a better idea with practice.

JEE Advanced Hyperbola important questions are provided along with solutions, in the below PDF. This PDF is free to download so that aspirants can access it easily.

JEE Advanced Important Questions of Hyperbola

Hyperbola is an important member of a family of curves known as conic sections which are formed when a plane intersects a cone at various angles.

Students should know that Hyperbola is the most important topic in Geometry and students should have good knowledge of this topic to score good marks in JEE Advanced exam, hence students need to practice as many questions as they can from the Hyperbola section.

Vedantu presents the complete PDF of important questions with solutions to help you score well in your exams. We give Free Study Material designed by experts for JEE Advanced students on our website - vedantu.com.

FAQs on JEE Advanced Hyperbola Important Questions

1. What is hyperbolic geometric according to JEE Advanced Hyperbola Important Questions?

Hyperbolic geometry is a non-Euclidean geometry. It is also called Lobachevskian geometry, after its discoverer, who independently discovered it in the early 1820s and published it in 1829.

Taken literally, the difference between Euclidean and hyperbolic geometry is that in Euclidean geometry the sum of the angles in a triangle is equal to 180 degrees (π radians), while in hyperbolic geometry the sum is less than 180 degrees (less than π radians).

The result of this difference can be seen with the aid of a hyperbola. In hyperbolic geometry, all lines are contained within a single such curve; in Euclidean geometry, no line can be contained within a single such curve, but they can approach them closely.

2. What makes a parabola different from a hyperbola?

Parabola and hyperbola are similar in some ways but differ in important aspects. The set of points that are equidistant from a given point and a given line is known as a parabola while a hyperbola is the set of points that are equidistant from two given points. The two curves have different symmetry properties. In fact, these shapes are not conic sections but part of a larger family called quadrics.

3. What are the important hyperbola topics covered in JEE Advanced Hyperbola Important Questions?

JEE is a very popular exam in India and mathematics covers a large part of it. Many students take this exam to get admission in one of the best engineering colleges. Here are some of the most important hyperbola topics that are covered in JEE below. So that you can prepare according to your needs and get good marks in JEE.

  • Hyperbola general equation

  • Equation of Parameters

  • Hyperbola with a rectangular shape

  • Tangents, asymptotes, angle between asymptotes, director circle, normal, and, chords, tangent pair.

The best thing about practicing these important questions with Vedantu is that we've created these PDFs having the JEE exams and the level of difficulties in mind. So you do not need to go anywhere else, you just need to download the PDF and solve the selected questions and then understand the solution given by Vedantu experts.

4. How should I prepare for the JEE Advanced Hyperbola Important Questions?

JEE Advanced Hyperbola Important Questions is one of the most challenging sections. Students are always confused about what to do to get a good score. But the preparation for the section is not that difficult as it seems. Here is a tried and tested formula to do well in the same, which can be used by students irrespective of their level of preparation:

  1. To begin, prepare a list of all of the formulae you used during your conic study session.

  2. With every study session (on the same day), try to solve different types of questions from that formula and review them every weekend.

  3. It is essential in developing the habit of taking quick notes. It will be easy for you to review and rewrite it during the tests.

  4. Students should solve at least 10-15 questions every day from their conic notes. This will ensure your strong foundation in conics and you'll have no difficulty in solving even more complicated questions from this section during the examinations.

  5. Take help of Vedantu and its free but customized study resources, such as PDFs, revision notes, previous year question papers, etc, to master the subject.

5. What will be the number of questions from the JEE Advanced Hyperbola Important Questions?

There will be 18 questions in the Mathematics section of JEE Advanced. Each paper is three hours long and can be taken in Hindi or English. The syllabus for the JEE advanced will revolve around Complex Numbers, Quadratic Equations, Sequence and Series, Matrices and Determinants, Trigonometric Functions, Integration, Differential Equations, etc. Download PDF and study material from Vedantu site and mobile app for free.
