JEE Main Mathematics Syllabus

The Mathematics syllabus for JEE Main consists of 16 units that comprise 29 chapters from classes 11 and 12. These units all contain different weightage as seen as a trend amongst the various JEE Main questions papers over the years.

Unit 11 Coordinate Geometry is known to carry the most weightage, almost 15% of the JEE Main question paper of the Mathematics sections while other units such as Limit, Continuity and Differentiability, and Integral Calculus also carry significant weightage. 


Question Paper Analysis of JEE Main 2019 Maths (9th April Morning Shift)

  1. The Physics section was considered to be lengthy. The Mechanics section in Physics was carrying 48 marks out of 120.

  2. The Chemistry section was easy to moderately difficult. 40% weightage was carried by Organic Chemistry whereas Physical Chemistry section was accountable for 30% weightage of the total Chemistry section.

  3. The Mathematics section was moderately difficult and time-consuming.


Paper pattern for the Mathematics section of JEE Main

The paper pattern for the JEE Main mathematics section of the question paper contains 30 questions like the other two sections for physics and chemistry. Out of the 30 questions, students need to attempt only 25, 

The division of which is as below:

  • The first 20 questions are objective-type MCQ-based questions with 4 marks for correct answers and one minus mark for every wrong answer.

  • The next 10 questions are numerical value type questions, where the students only have to attempt five out of the ten questions. 

  • The total marks for the mathematics section of the JEE Main section are 100 marks and the complete JEE Main exam is worth 300 marks for B.Tech aspirants.
