उत्तर: बस कंपनी के हिस्सेदार साहब टायर की खराब हालत से परिचित होने के बावजूद और अपनी जान जोखिम में डालकर बस को चलाने का साहस कर रहा था। बस वृद्ध होने के बावजूद उसकी तारीफ़ कर रहा था। आत्म बलिदान की ऐसी भावना देखकर लेखक हैरान रह गया और इस लिए लेखक के मन में हिस्सेदार साहब के लिए श्रद्धा जाग गई।

2. कारण बताएँ - “लोगों ने सलाह दी कि समझदार आदमी इस शाम वाली बस से सफ़र नहीं करते।” लोगों ने यह सलाह क्यों दी?

उत्तर: लेखक के अनुसार बस डाकिन की तरह थी। बस की हालत बहुत खराब थी और यह कब और कहाँ रूक जाए कोई भरोसा नहीं था। कभी भी ब्रेक फेल, कभी भी स्टीयरिंग टूट सकता था और रात जंगल में बितानी पड़ सकती थी। इसलिए लोगों ने सलाह दी कि समझदार आदमी इस शाम वाली बस से सफर नहीं करते।

3. कारण बताएँ - “ऐसा जैसे सारी बस ही इंजन है और हम इंजन के भीतर बैठे हैं।” लेखक को ऐसा क्यों लगा?

उत्तर:  ऐसा जैसे सारी बस ही इंजन है और हम इंजन के भीतर बैठे हैं। लेखक को ऐसा लगा क्योंकि जब बस स्टार्ट हुई तो सारी बस झनझानाने लगी। इंजन के स्टार्ट होने से बस के सारे यात्री इंजन के पुर्जों की तरह हिलने लगे।

4. कारण बताएँ - ”गज़ब हो गया। ऐसी बस अपने आप चलती है।” लेखक को यह सुनकर हैरानी क्यों हुई?

उत्तर: बस की हालत बहुत खराब थी। उसे देखने से लग नहीं रहा था कि बस चलती भी है। जब बस के हिस्सेदार ने यह कहा कि यह चलेगी ही नहीं, अपने आप चलेगी तो लेखक का यह सुनकर हैरान होना स्वाभिक था।

5. कारण बताएँ - “मैं हर पेड़ को अपना दुश्मन समझ रहा था।” लेखक पेड़ों को अपना दुश्मन क्यों समझ रहा था?

उत्तर: लेखक हर पेड़ को अपना दुश्मन इसलिए समझ रहा था क्योंकि बस की हालत बहुत खराब थी। बस की ब्रेक कभी भी फेल हो सकती थी और स्टीयरिंग कभी भी टूट सकता था जिसकी वजह से बस पेड़ से टकरा सकती थी।

6. ‘सविनय अवज्ञा आंदोलन’ किसके नेतृत्व में, किस उद्देश्य से तथा कब हुआ था? इतिहास की उपलब्ध पुस्तकों के आधार पर लिखिए।

उत्तर: 1930 में महात्मा गांधी जी के नेतृत्व में सविनय अवज्ञा आंदोलन किया गया था। यह अंदोलन ब्रिटीश सरकार से असहयोग करने तथा आजादी प्राप्त करने के लिए किया गया था।

7. सविनय अवज्ञा का उपयोग व्यंग्यकार ने किस रूप में किया है? लिखिए।

उत्तर: व्यंगकार ने बस के लिए सविनय अवज्ञा का प्रयोग किया है। 1930 में सविनय अवज्ञा अंदोलन गाँधी जी ने आजादी प्राप्त करने के लिए किया था। बस भी अपने मालिक से विनय पूर्वक पूर्ण आजादी प्राप्त करने की इच्छा रखती है।

8. बस, वश, बस तीन शब्द हैं – इनमें बस सवारी के अर्थ में, वश अधीनता के अर्थ में, और बस पर्याप्त (काफी) के अर्थ में प्रयुक्त होता है,

जैसे – बस से चलना होगा।

मेरे वश में नहीं है।

अब बस करो।

उपर्युक्त वाक्यों के समान वश और बस शब्द से दो-दो वाक्य बनाइए।

उत्तर:  वश - अपनी सास को समझना मेरे वश की बात नहीं है।

वश - इतना बोझा उठना मेरे वश की बात नहीं है।

बस - बस कर यार बहुत हो गया।

बस - बस करो, कितना नाचोंगी।

9. “हम पाँच मित्रों ने तय किया कि शाम चार बजे की बस से चलें। पन्ना से इसी कंपनी की बस सतना के लिए घंटे भर बाद मिलती है।”

ऊपर दिए गए वाक्यों में ने, की, से आदि वाक्य के दो शब्दों के बीच संबंध स्थापित कर रहे हैं। ऐसे शब्दों को कारक कहते हैं। इसी तरह दो वाक्यों को एक साथ जोड़ने के लिए ‘कि’ का प्रयोग होता है। कहानी में से दोनों प्रकार के चार वाक्यों को चुनिए।

उत्तर: जो भी पेड़ आता, डर लगता कि बस इससे टकरायेगी।

यह बस पूजा के योग्य है।

हमें लग रहा था कि हमारी सीट के नीचे इंजन है।

नयी नवेली बसों से ज्यादा विश्वसनीय है।

10. “हम फ़ौरन खिड़की से दूर सरक गए। चाँदनी में रास्ता टटोलकर वह रेंग रही थी।”

दिए गए वाक्यों में आई ‘सरकना’ और ‘रेंगना’ जैसी क्रियाएँ दो प्रकार की गतियाँ दर्शाती हैं। ऐसी कुछ और क्रियाएँ एकत्र कीजिए जो गति के लिए प्रयुक्त होती हैं, जैसे – घूमना इत्यादि। उन्हें वाक्यों में प्रयोग कीजिए।

उत्तर: चाल - उसकी चाल बहुत धीमी थी।

गुजरना - बस जंगल के रास्ते से गुज रहो थी।

रफ़्तार - ट्रेन की रफ़्तार बहुत धीमी थी।

11. काँच बहुत कम बचे थे। जो बचे थे, उनसे हमें बचना था।”

इस वाक्य में ‘बच’ शब्द को दो तरह से प्रयोग किया गया है। एक ‘शेष’ के अर्थ में और दूसरा ‘सुरक्षा’ के अर्थ में। नीचे दिए गए शब्दों को वाक्यों में प्रयोग करके देखिए। ध्यान रहे, एक ही शब्द वाक्य में दो बार आना चाहिए और शब्दों के अर्थ में कुछ बदलाव होना चाहिए।

(क) जल

उत्तर: (क) आग से पैर जल जाने पर मैंने पैर ठण्डे जल में डाल दिया।

(ख) हार

उत्तर: (ख) जो प्रतियोंगिता में हार जायेगा, सोने का हार उसे नहीं मिलेगा।

12. बोलचाल में प्रचलित अंग्रेजी शब्द ‘फर्स्ट क्लास’ में दो शब्द हैं – फर्स्ट और क्लास। यहाँ क्लास का विशेषण है फर्स्ट। चूँकि फर्स्ट संख्या है, फर्स्ट क्लास संख्यावाचक विशेषण का उदाहरण है। ‘महान आदमी’ में किसी आदमी की विशेषता है महान। यह गुणवाचक विशेषण है। संख्यावाचक विशेषण और गुणवाचक विशेषण के दो-दो उदाहरण खोजकर लिखिए।

उत्तर: आठ दोस्त, दो कारे।
