What is the Significance of the NEET Dress Code 2020?


NEET Dress Code 2020 guidelines demand the candidates keep certain things in mind to appear in the NEET exam. It will help to conduct the examination smoothly without any hassle and malpractices. In the previous year, NTA established some guidelines for the dress code for candidates to appear in the NEET exam. These are the points that  candidate should keep in mind while appearing NEET 2020.

  • Wearing clothes having many pockets and an uncomfortable fabric can cause a lot of frizz while checking.

  • Clothes with long sleeves are not permitted for boys. If the candidate is wearing any traditional or religious dress, he/she is requested to report at least one hour earlier to the examination centre. It will provide enough time for fisking and no delay to the further process.

  • Shoes are not permitted. Only slippers or low heels sandals are allowed.

  • Wearing any metal accessory involves unnecessary time consumption. 

  • To avoid confusion on the exam day, we advise you not to wear anything that comes under the banned category in the auditorium.

The NTA established the guidelines of NEET Dress Code for this year.


List of Barred Items on NEET Exam 2020

It is not allowed for the candidates to wear some specific categories of clothes and accessories during the NEET exam. Some of the barred items are:

  • Hair Accessories such as Hairpins, Hair Bands, etc.

  • Heavy Metal Wrist Watches /Any watch, Metal straps on the wrist, bracelet, health band, etc.

  • Decorations /Jewelry such as necklaces, chains, earrings, nose pins, etc.

  • Any food item either opened or packed, water bottle, etc.

  • Items like Goggles, Cap, Wallet, Belt, etc.

There will be screening with metal detectors before candidates are allowed to enter the NEET exam hall. Therefore, candidates should not wear any banned items. 


Why is the NEET Dress Code So Strict?

Many NEET aspirants may find the NEET dress code too strict but the fact is that these rules have been formulated for their benefit only. It is made sure that these rules prevent any malpractices during the exam which will lead to unnecessary hassle. These guidelines are made so that candidates can take the exam without any interruptions or confusion. If they follow the dress code, frisking before the exam will take less time.


Conclusion

NTA advised candidates who wear clothes or objects following their tradition or religious beliefs to report to the examination hall earlier, at least one or two hours. If the officials find the guidelines are not followed properly, they will not allow a candidate to enter the examination hall.


FAQs on NEET Dress Code 2020

1.  Can the NEET candidates wear kurti?

Yes, despite the strict guidelines followed by the NEET authorities, the NEET authorities have given permission for wearing kurtis with lining. But the female students are refrained from wearing clothes with embroidery, flowers, brooches, and buttons. All clothes are to be light coloured and must have half-sleeves. According to the NEET guidelines, the dress code for female candidates is restricted to only salwar and trousers. They are advised to wear slippers or sandals with low heels as shoes are prohibited for in the dress code.

2.  Are the NEET candidates allowed to wear skirts?

There are strict restrictions for the candidates on the type of clothes they wear to the NEET examination hall. When the question lands on the skirts, the answer would be no. Any candidate is not allowed to wear skirts. All the female candidates are requested to refrain from wearing skirts as it is against the rules and regulations of NEET. They can wear trousers, salwar or jeans (avoiding multiple pockets). 

3.  Can the male candidates wear night pants and collar t-shirts to the NEET exam hall?

 No, the students are not allowed to wear any kind of informal dress code. Night pants are strictly prohibited in the NEET Dress Code. The male students are required to wear half-sleeved t-shirts and are strictly refrained from wearing full sleeved t-shirts. Any kind of traditional outfit like kurta pyjamas is prohibited. Trousers and simple coloured pants are preferred only. Male candidates must wear slippers and sandals as shoes are prohibited.

4.  Are the candidates allowed to have long and painted nails?

As for now, we have not heard about any restrictions or guidelines in the subject matter of long nails and painted nails. But if the invigilators will create any issues regarding this then the candidates are advised to carry a nail cutter to the examination hall which will easily solve the problem in demand. Although nails are a part of the body, it may lead to a miscommunication with invigilators as they are very strict and instructed to do so.

5. What are some guidelines related to the dress code to be followed for the selection of the students in NEET 2023 offered by Vedantu?
