The Indian Government has recently announced that a few central universities are exempted from giving admission to students through CUET 2022. The exemption is only for this academic session due to operational difficulties that these universities are facing. CUET is the centralized test for admission to undergraduate courses and is also available for post-graduate courses on an optional basis.

Union Minister of State for Education, Subahs Sarkar, commented, “Under the National Education Policy 2020, it was decided to conduct a common entrance test for admission in Central Universities under the Ministry of Education from the academic year 2022-23. The step was taken to ease the process of admission to various universities. Earlier, multiple tests were conducted to take admission to different universities, giving minimal time to students to prepare specifically.
The Education Minister said, “CUET has been adopted for undergraduate courses and it has been decided to make it available for the post-graduate courses also on an optional basis. The CUET is optional for the state universities.”
