Doctor’s Appointment for Unwell Dolly

A contemporary British children's song with uncertain roots is entitled "Miss Polly had a Dolly." It relates to the tale of Polly, who makes a doctor's appointment for her unwell doll. It is one of the classic nursery rhymes about a girl named Miss Polly who has a sick doll. When their children are ill, moms sing this song to them. This rhyme's creator and origins are still a mystery. This song, an action song, aids instructors in teaching the children rhythm, motions, and recitation.

The song is a well-known action song that is frequently played in classrooms. Children can perform in accordance with the song's lyrics. Children will pretend to rock a doll close to their chest after the second line (who was severely sick).

The kids will bring their hands near their ears to simulate phoning a doctor as the third line is sung, "So she phoned the doctor."

Miss Polly Had a Dolly Lyrics

Miss Polly had a dolly who was sick, sick, sick.

So she phoned for the doctor to be quick, quick, quick.

The doctor came with his bag and his hat

And he knocked at the door with a rat-a-tat-tat.

He looked at the dolly

and he shook his head

And he said “Miss Polly,

put her straight to bed!”

He wrote on a paper

for a pill, pill, pill

“I’ll be back in the morning

yes I will, will, will.”

Miss Polly Had a Dolly Poem Summary

Miss Polly is the girl's name in this rhyme. Polly has a favourite Dolly, just like every girl does. Polly picked up her phone and called the doctor as soon as Dolly became ill. She requests that the doctor arrive right away so that Dolly can get better as soon as possible. The doctor knocks on the door loudly while carrying his doctor's equipment and donning a cap.

"Put Dolly right to bed," the doctor instructed her as he shook his head at her. Dolly is examined by the doctor, who also notes that she needs medication. The doctor tells Miss Polly that he will return the following morning with the bill as he prepares to leave her home.
