This section consists of two unseen passages and a poem, 12 multiple choice questions out of 15 questions from a passage, which carries 12 marks. 4 out of 5 multiple choice questions to test interpretation and appreciation of a poem, which carries 4 marks. Another 4 out of 5 multiple choice questions from a case based factual passage, which carries 4 marks.

 

  1. Writing (40 Marks)

This section consists of:

  • Short answer questions- notices, advertisements, drafting posters, invitations, etc.

  • Long answer questions- Official letters, job application, letter to the editor.

  • Very Long answer questions- writing a speech, article for a magazine.

Grammar

  • Reordering of words and sentences, Dialogue composing, Error correction, Drafting questions.

 

  1. Literature (40 marks)

This section consist of:

  • Very short answer questions- two out of three extracts from different poems.

  • Short answer questions- literature reader.

  • Two long answer questions- one from prose text, another from understanding, appreciation, analysis, etc.
