Hint: A Barometer is a scientific measurement instrument used to measure atmospheric pressure. We can easily build a simple water-type barometer using basic household items. The concept here used for a water type barometer is High pressure will cause the water level to increase and drive rain-bearing clouds away whereas low pressure will cause the water level to decrease in the barometer and lead to rain.
Complete Step-by-Step solution:
A Barometer is a scientific measuring instrument that is used to measure atmospheric pressure in a certain environment. Pressure tendency is helpful in forecasting short term changes in the weather.
To make a simple water type barometer follow the below steps
1. Take a big transparent plastic jar.
2. Set the measuring scale inside the jar. It must stand up inside, flat against the wall of the jar.
3. Fix a clean tube straight with the measuring scale. Leaving some of the tube hanging out of the bottle
4. Pour water to fill the Jar half and suck some water into the tube. Then close the end of the tube.
5. Now read the level of the water inside the tube with the help of the measuring scale as shown in figure 1.
High pressure will cause the water level to increase and drive rain-bearing clouds away whereas low pressure will cause the water level to decrease in the barometer leading to precipitation.
Figure 1
Note: For these types of questions always remember the definition and application of basic scientific measuring instruments. Then try to use the working principle to make the instrument with common household material. We can make water type barometers using mercury also which gives many accurate results and we can also make air type barometers.
