The anti Hindi agitation of Tamil Nadu was a series of agitations which took place in the state of Tamilnadu. This involved several mass protests, riots, student and political movements. There was an opposition to the introduction of compulsory teaching of Hindi in schools of Madras presidency. It was done by Indian National Congress led by C Raja Gopalachari. E. V. Ramaswamy and the justice party oppose it. This agitation included fast, conferences, marches, picketing and protest. It lasted for three years. the government responded to the agitation and it resulted in the arrest of more than thousand people which included women and children. It was later withdrawn by British government of Madras.
