Complete answer:
We are going to discuss about the simple machines that are present in a washing machine briefly:
1. Levers: A lever is a simple machine composed of a rigid beam and a fulcrum. The load is put at one point of the beam, the input force at the other while the fulcrum at the other.
Levers are of three types:
• First class lever
• Second class lever
• Third class lever
2. Pulleys and belts: A pulley is a wheel which carries a flexible rope, cord, cable, chain, or belt on its rim. In belt drives, pulleys are fixed to shafts at their axes, and power is transmitted between the shafts by means of endless belts running over the pulleys.
3. Wheel and axle: Wheel and axle are simple machines which are circular structures with different radii. Axle is a cylinder-shaped structure inserted at the middle of a wheel with a smaller radius than a circle.
4. Wedge: Wedges are inclined shaped structures in which it is easy to work rather than more steep structures. Many more simples are included in the washing machine namely: Screw, Gearwheels, Spring, Crank and connecting rod.
Note:
There is one more type of machines known as Complex machines or Compound machines. A complex machine is formed by connecting two or more simple machines in such a way that the new machine formed is capable of doing the desired work.
