Derived physical quantity: Quantities that are calculated by two or more measurements include volume, density, and area. Whereas, area of rectangular surface calculated as its length multiplied by its width. The volume of a rectangular solid is calculated by the product of length, width, height. Derived quantities are always expressed in some type of units. Many derived quantities cannot be measured directly and some are calculated in physical science.Examples of derived physical quantities are Area and Volume.

Area: It’s a two dimensional quantity representing the amount of surface. The standard unit of area can be expressed in the S.I unit base using square meters. Usually it is defined on the flat surface or on a spherical surface. Area is measured in length, width and height. Area of a rectangle is defined by the product of base by height.

Volume: it is the quantity of three dimensional space enclosed by a closed surface. Volume is often numerically using the unit S.I derived unit, the cubic meter. It also measures capacity. Volume is the amount of space occupied by object substances like solid, liquid or gas. It is measured in cubic units. Volume of a substance is dividing the mass of the substance by density. There are other units for volume they are, liter, fluid ounce, gallon, quart, pint and so on.

Note:Physical quantity is used to calculate the substances that are occupied. Some physical quantities are more fundamental than other physical quantities. Giving numerical values for physical quantities as well as giving equations for the physical principles.
