Hint: Metals are arranged on the left side of the periodic table and there are five kinds of metals: Alkaline earth metals, Alkali metals, Transition metals, Actinides and Lanthanides. There are 92 elements out of which 70 are metals.

Complete answer:
Water is basically composed of two hydrogen atoms and an oxygen atom. It exhibits polarity and is naturally found in the liquid, solid, and vapor states. Due to its polarity it acts as a good solvent and is commonly known as the universal solvent. Because of its abundance on earth it is important to note that it is involved in many chemical reactions.
Be which represents the metal beryllium and Mg represents magnesium these both metals are kept in the category of alkaline earth metals. The most common property of alkaline earth metals is their ability to displace hydrogen gas from water. Alkali metals are also known to react violently and explosively with water. This can be explained by the reason that enough heat is given off during the exothermic reaction to ignite the hydrogen gas.
But out of all Be and Mg do not react with water because these are kinetically inert to water due to formation of protective oxide film on the surface of it.

Note:
Elements are arranged in a tabular form called periodic table and there are 115 elements present in the periodic table. There are similarities as well as differences in the properties of these elements. On the basis of these properties elements can be divided into metals and non-metals.
