Hint: Vande Mataram was one of the most popular songs of the Indian National Movement. Leaders and poets like Rabindranath Tagore, Dakhina Chandra Sen, Sarala Devi Chaudarani and Lala Lajpat Rai sang Vande Mataram in various Congress Session. After Independence, on 24 January 1950, the Constituent Assembly of India adopted “Vande Mataram” as a national song.

Step by step complete answer: Vande Mataram is originally a Bengali poem written by Bankim Chandra Chatterjee in 1870 included in his famous Novel Anandmath. It became the symbol of nationalism and was first sung by Rabindra Nath Tagore in the 1896 session of Indian National Congress. Indian Nationalist and philosopher Aurbindo Ghosh calls it the ‘National anthem of Bengal’ as it binds the people from all over Bengal in the Swadeshi Movement. Later it was banned by the British government but the general public defied the ban and continued it in later movements. On 24 January 1950, it was adopted as the National Song.
