Hint: Iron ore is a widely used metal. It serves as the foundation of modern civilization. It is the bedrock of our fundamental economy, and it is used all over the globe. Iron ore is the most important mineral used in the iron and steel industry to extract metallic iron. Secondary factories use extracted metal to make machinery, hand tools, and create structures, among other things.
Complete answer:
India has a lot of high-quality iron ores. Magnetite is the purest iron ore, with a heavy iron content of up to 70%. Because of its outstanding magnetic properties, this iron ore is important to the electrical industry. In terms of use, hematite ore is the most important industrial iron ore. Hematite has a 50-60 percent iron content.
Orissa Jharkhand Belt: Badampahar mines, located in the Mayurbhanj and Kendujhar districts of Orissa, have high-grade hematite ore. Hematite iron ore is also extracted in the Singhbhum district of Jharkhand, in Gua and Noamundi.
Durg Bastar Chandrapur Belt: The Durg Bastar Chandrapur Belt runs through Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra. Hematite ore of very high grades can be found in the Bailadila range of hills in Chhattisgarh's Bastar district. There are 14 deposits of super high-quality hematite ore in this hilly range. Visakhapatnam Port is used to export iron from these mines to Japan and South Korea.
Bellary Chitradurga Chikmagalur Tumkur Belt: Karnataka is home to this belt. The Kudremukh mines in the Western Ghats are entirely export-oriented. The ore from these mines is piped to a port near Mangalore in the form of slurry.
Maharashtra Goa Belt: The state of Goa and the Maharashtra district of Ratnagiri fall under this belt. These mines produce low-grade ores. The port of Mormugao is used to export them.
Note: Because of properties such as stiffness, resilience, and toughness, it is the most commonly used metal. Iron is also malleable and has magnetic properties. As a result of its role in manufacturing and infrastructure production, iron has a large economic impact.
