Hint: In this question, we need to comment on the difference between the elastic and the plastic materials. For this we will differentiate between these two materials on the basis of their strength, shape, deformation, applications.
Complete answer:
The main difference between the elastic and the plastic material is the behavior of their structures. Elastic materials will break when they reach their elastic limit whereas the plastic material will not break.
In elastic material its deformation is temporary under the external load action it means that when an external load or the external force is applied to elastic materials its shape changes it deforms from its original shape but when that force or that load is removed then the elastic materials regains its original shape.
In plastic material the deformation is permanent when an external load or the external force is applied to plastic materials then its shape changes it deforms from its original shape but when that force or that load is removed then the plastic materials then the material remains in that shape only it does not deform to is original shape. When a plastic material is pulled then it breaks after its plastic limit.
Note:
Students must note that elasticity is just the opposite of plasticity when a material is stretched and if it remains screeched then it is plastic and when material regains its shape then it is elastic material. The permanent deformation doesn’t enable the material to restore back in its original form while in the temporary deformation, restoration is possible.
