Hint: It is essential for us to know that different organisms live in different environments and habitats and have different digestive tracts and utilizes distinct processes to obtain energy from food.
Step by step answer:There is a wide variety or diversity of organisms existing on this planet. Accordingly, there is a different food requirement for these organisms.
We can classify organisms into 3 main categories based on their food requirements,
-Those animals which eat only plants or are dependent on plants for their food are termed as ‘Herbivores’. E.g.: Deer, elephant, rabbit, etc
-Those animals which are dependent on other animals for their food or cannot survive without eating the flesh of other animals are called ‘Carnivores'. E.g. Lion, Cheetah, Leopard, etc.
-Those animals which can eat both plants and animals are called ‘Omnivorous’.
E.g.: Cat, crow, etc.
Let’s take an example, cows, rabbits eat grass and grains. In the same way, crow eats grains or worms and cats prey upon smaller animals like rats. Eagles and vultures prey upon rodents, snakes, frogs, etc.
Thus we can conclude by saying that different types of living beings eat different kinds of food for their survival.
Note: All living beings are dependent on one another for their survival. The absence of any one can lead to disturbance in the ecological balance affecting the other species. The food chain, a systematic organization of species in different trophic levels also exists to determine the food habits as well.
