Hint :Electromagnetic spectrum describes the arrangement of electromagnetic radiations in the order of either wavelength or frequency. These electromagnetic radiations include radio waves, microwaves, infrared, visible, UV, X-rays and gamma rays. The white light consists of seven colors i.e. VIBGYOR spectrum.

Complete Step By Step Answer:
The visible light consists of electromagnetic radiation having wavelength ranges between \[400 nm\]to \[700nm\]. This range lies between infrared rays (longer wavelength) and ultraviolet rays (short wavelength). Among the electromagnetic radiations, we can only see visible radiations by our naked eyes. The visible light consists of white light which is further split into a 7 colour spectrum called VIBGYOR when passed through the nicol prism. VIBGYOR refers to Violet, Indigo, Blue, Yellow, Orange and Red. Amongst, Violet has the shortest wavelength and red has the longest. The practical example of the visible ray spectrum is the rainbow in the rainy season.

Additional Information:
The electromagnetic energy of the radiation is directly proportional to frequency and inversely proportional to wavelength. There are numerous applications of electromagnetic radiation in the latest technology including X-rays are used in medical treatments and radio waves are used for communications. Besides their usefulness, electromagnetic radiations have also had harmful effects, for instance, X-ray causes cancer and leads to cell death.

Note :
It is important to note that visible light consists of electromagnetic radiation having wavelength ranges between \[400 nm\]to \[700nm\]. Among the electromagnetic radiations, we can only see visible radiations by our naked eyes. The visible light consists of white light which is further split into a 7 colour spectrum called VIBGYOR.
