Hint: L.S of a flower stands for Longitudinal section of the flower. In this section, a cut is made along the axis of a flower. It is done to study the structure of a flower where you can find all the vegetative and reproductive parts in a detailed view whereas transverse section is done to study the anatomy where it shows the vascular bundles

This is a longitudinal section of a flower which shows the vegetative parts calyx and corolla which together are called as perianth. The male reproductive organ is called androecium and the female reproductive organ is called gynoecium. Gynoecium further consists of ovary, style and stigma. Ovary contains ovules which are nothing but the seeds. Androecium consists of stamens. Filament and anther together constitute a stamen. Filament is a stalk-like structure that holds another whereas another produces male reproductive cells called pollen. This pollen is present in a sac-like structure called microsporangium. The role of pollen is to deliver the male gametes of the flower to the stigma of the same or another flower so that fertilization occurs and develops a seed. The main function of anther is to produce pollen grains.

Note:
Anther’s arise from the centre of the flower and their number varies in different flowers. Most of the flowers have five to six anthers. The long filament will hold the anther so that they are exposed and it increases the chances for a pollinator to visit and when this same pollinator visits the other flower, pollination happens. Without anthers, pollen is not produced and hence flowers cannot reproduce.
