The only exception in the case of veins is pulmonary veins and umbilical veins which carry the oxygenated blood.
Capillaries are vessels that connect two different blood vessels i.e. arteries and veins. These vessels promote the exchange of elements between the blood and cells.
Note: Both the arteries and veins build a small interconnecting network i.e. capillaries which are very thin in nature and cause exchange of elements between the bloodstream and the connecting tissue.
