Hint: Ruling in the sixteenth century, this Sunni Islamist dynasty had its capital in Sasaram (modern day Bihar). One of the most remarkable contributions of its founder, Sher shah Suri is considered to be the introduction of new silver coins called “Dam” and which were successfully in circulation till 1835.

Complete answer:
The Sur or the Suri dynasty had gained control over almost all the Mughal territories, ranging from Bangladesh to Afghanistan. The founder of this dynasty defeated the Emperor of Hindustan, Humayun in the Battle of Chausa on Twenty sixth of June, 1539.
During the entire tenure of the dynasty, south Asia witnessed a boom in its economic ventures and smoothened their administrative reforms as well, creating a well balanced structure between the King and his kingdom, minimising oppression.
The Sur dynasty had seven rulers in their tenure lasting less than two decades, precisely. Starting from Sher Shah Suri of Afghan origin, himself from 1532 to 1545, who was succeeded by Islam Shah Suri, then Firoz Shah Suri , Mohammad Adil Shah, Ibrahim Shah and in the final stage by Sikandar Shah Suri and lastly Adil Shah Suri from 1555 to 1556.
Hence the Sur dynasty held the power for a total of almost seventeen years.

Note: Humayun was defeated twice, as a matter of fact, by Sher Shah Suri once in the Battle of Chausa and second time in the Battle of Bilgram in May 1540. The Sur dynasty came to end through the hand of Mughals only.
