Hint: Cotton and jute are important commercial items that are used in manufacturing plenty of things starting from clothes to gunny bags that are used to pack various items. Both of these are fibers that are obtained from the cotton and jute plant. The raw material is processed in cotton and jute mills and then used to make various items.

Complete answer:
Cotton is obtained from the cotton plant (scientific name: Gossypium sp.). It is actually obtained from the seeds (cotton seeds) which are inside the fruit. The seeds on ripening burst open to release the cotton fiber balls which are carefully plucked by workers from the plant.
Likewise, jute fibers are obtained from the jute plant (scientific name: Corchorus sp.). The jute fibers are obtained from the stem of the plant. The outer layer of the stem bears these fibers. The plant’s stem, when immersed in water along with chemicals for some days, gets fermented to release these fibers which are later processed to give jute fibers.

Note:
Sometimes, in some books it is often mentioned that cotton fibers are often obtained from the seed coat of the cotton seeds. This statement is also correct. Actually, when the seed coats get ruptured, then the cotton fibers are released. And when the raw cotton fibers are plucked, the seed coat (and sometimes the seed also) remains attached with the cotton fibers which are later removed during processing. Thus, if in a question, seed coat is given, then the learner should not get confused and select the same and both the answers are correct.
