Complete answer:
Grafting is one of the methods of asexual propogation where we combine two different plants into one. The plant part which is detached and grafted is called scion. The plant which is rooted and to which the detached part is combined is called stock. In short, the lower portion in a combined plant is stock and the upper part is scion. As a part of the process, we need to select the best stock and scion. The scion is cut by making an incision and is attached to the stock by tying them tightly using a plastic wrap and is allowed to grow. After a year or two, we can observe that these parts grow together into a new plant. It is mainly done in horticultural crops like fruits and trees or in other ornamental plants. Examples include apple, citrus, rose, mango etc
Note:
Imagine there are two plants. The fruits of one plant are big but not sweet, the fruits of another plant are small but sweet. In order to get fruits which are big and sweet, the grafting method is used.
This is one of the best ways to grow commercial plants of desirable characters.
