Hint: Cockroaches are insects. The cockroaches have distinct muscles, the ones that are present near the legs move the legs for walking. When the cockroach flies, the breast muscles move the wings. Because of the spines on its legs, a cockroach can move in different terrains like sand and wired meshes.

Complete answer:
Cockroaches are insects, with a few special adaptations. They may belong among the most primitive living Neopteran insects. The cockroach body is elongated and segmented. It is dark brown or reddish-brown, on the ventral side are called Sternum. The exoskeleton is coated with wax impermeable to water.

Cockroaches can walk, climb, and have the ability to take short flights also. They have three pairs of jointed appendages which are called walking legs that help in walking and running. They have two pairs of wings. The wings help them to take short flights.

Due to the presence of a long pair of antennae in cockroaches, helps them to pick up smells and vibrations. The antennae are connected to the head. The head also includes the brain, compound eyes, and strong mouthparts for scraping and chewing food. They have poor vision.

After the head comes to the thorax. It includes three pairs of legs – cockroaches have six legs total – and two pairs of wings.

The abdomen is the final piece, and it contains reproductive organs. At the back of the abdomen are two short protrusions called cerci, they are connected to the roach's legs by the abdominal nerve ganglia and function like rear antennae.

Note: In an adult cockroach, there are two pairs of wings. Not all species have the ability to fly. Due to the presence of sharp claws at the end of the legs, they can walk or climb even on vertical surfaces. Due to adaptation over some time, the cockroaches have evolved and thus possess the ability to walk, climb, and fly in the air.
