High cost – It is considered as one of the most important disadvantages because air transport is a very costly service because of its too high price of operational costs. Rich people can afford this transport but it is very tough for poor people (because of financial crunches).
Air transportation is still a popular means of transport because of various factors and they are:
1) High speed: Air transportation is one of the fastest means of transportation. Movement of people and goods can be easily carried from one place to another.
2) Less time: As compared to the journey from railways or roads, air transportation takes less time as compared to another mode of transportation. For example: travelling from Gurugram to Raipur, travelling by railways it takes 48 to 50 hours whereas, air travelling takes 1 hour. So, air transport is a less time-consuming transportation.
3) Free from physical barriers: Physical barriers such as speed breakers, mountains, rivers etc. Any barrier that reduces the speed. So, air transportation is free from such barriers.
4) Easy transportation of costly and light goods: Heavy, light and costly goods can be easily transported without any tear in the product or goods.
