Hint:Oxidation and reduction reactions can also be studied in terms of the transference of electrons in the reacting species taking part in a chemical reaction. This is known as the electronic concept.

Complete step-by-step answer:According to the electronic concept, oxidation may be defined as : the process in which an atom or ion loses one or more electrons. The loss of electrons is also called de-electronation. As a result, there is an increase in the positive valency or decrease in negative valency of the species.
The species (atoms or ions) which lose electrons during oxidation are called reducing agents.
According to the electronic concept, reduction may be defined as: the process in which an atom or ion gains one or more electrons.
The gain of electrons is also called electronation. As a result, there is an increase in negative valency or decrease in positive valency.
The species (atoms or ions) which gain electrons during reduction are called oxidising agents. Thus, all the reacting species listed above are oxidising agents.
Oxidation involves loss of one or more electrons
Reduction involves gain of one or more electrons
Electron losing species is called reducing agent
Electron accepting species is called oxidising agent

Note:We have studied that oxidation involves the loss of electrons while reduction involves the gain of electrons. We also know that there cannot be any net loss or gain of electrons in a chemical reaction. This means that the loss and gain of electrons in a chemical reaction takes place simultaneously.
