Hint: A Planet which is defined as an astronomical body orbiting a star or stellar remnant that is massive enough to be rounded by its own gravity but it is not massive enough to cause thermonuclear fusion. Eight planets of the solar system are mercury, Venus, earth, mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune.

Complete step-by-step solution:
Moon is defined as an astronomical body that orbits the earth as its only permanent natural satellite and moon is the fifth largest satellite in the solar system. Star which is defined as an astronomical object consisting of a luminous spheroid of plasma held together by its own gravity. When the moon is compared with a star it is still smaller and stars are larger than planets or anything else in the universe. Star which does not consist of solid material like the moon.
The star which is the formation of hot gasses, energy, light and heat, which doesn’t refer to the moon's qualities.
So the moon is not a planet or a star.
The below mentioned requirements disqualify the moon from being referred to as a planet.
An object in the solar system considered as a planet must be in orbit around a sun, it must have sufficient mass to assume a near round shape called the hydrostatic equilibrium and it has to have cleared any obstacles from its path in orbit.

Note:Planets which are formed when the rocky, icy cores of pre-existing stars start to condense. Star is a luminous ball of gas and stars produce photons, heat and small amounts of heavier elements. Sun is the most important star and without sun there would be no heat or light around our planet and also there wouldn’t be life.
