Hint: Blood is known as the fluid connective tissue. It is circulating continuously in our body and serves the purpose of a transport medium that transports essential nutrients, hormones, oxygen, and also waste materials. Structurally the blood contains plasma and cells.

Complete answer:
Blood is a fluid flowing in our body that is thicker than water. The blood is made up of cells and proteins suspended in the liquid medium. The average adult contains around 5 litres of blood.

To answer this question, we must know the structure of blood.
The blood contains the blood cells which are suspended in the liquid plasma. The blood comprises of-
Cells- The cells are an important part of the blood. There are mainly three types of cells present in the blood- RBC, WBC and platelets. The RBCs helps in the transport of oxygen and carbon dioxide in the blood, WBC is the immune cells that help our body fight against foreign invaders and platelets help in the coagulation of the blood.

Plasma- The liquid part of the blood is called the plasma. The blood contains around 90% plasma. It is the yellow liquid part of the blood. It carries the blood cells, proteins and other components of the blood and keeps the blood in liquid form. The important role of plasma is it keeps the electrolytic concentration at the optimum level which prevents the body from infections and other disorders.

Note: The blood is red in colour due to the presence of haemoglobin of the RBC. This haemoglobin is the carrier of oxygen. The blood plasma is transfused to the person who is in need of blood due to surgery or blood loss.
