These spices make our food super delicious. The spices are exported from Kerala to all parts of the world, the state has become the “Spice Trade Hub”. Idukki and Wayanad are the specific locations for the growth of the spices. Hot and humid climate with an abundance of moist and loamy soil are some of the favourable conditions for the growth of these spices. The summer in Kerala is the best time for the cultivation of the spices. The spices not only enhance the taste of our food but also help us in keeping our body healthy and free of diseases. The ancient Indian Ayurveda has always advocated for the use of the spices for medicinal purposes. Many spices are grown in Kerala such as white pepper, star anise, vanilla and mace.
