Hint:For thousands of years, Gujarat has been famous for trade and commerce because of its proximity to the Arabian sea. People with different linguistic backgrounds have come to settle here, bringing their languages with them. There are many languages in Gujarat, but it also has an official language, which is spoken by the majority of its population.

Complete Answer:Since prehistoric times, Gujarat has played an important role in global maritime trade. This is evident in the archaeological site of Lothal trading port, which flourished during the times of Harappan Civilization. People with different native languages have settled here for millennia if a community grew in size, so do the speakers of their language. While the majority of its population speak Gujarati, there are other languages as well, which are spoken in various regions of Gujarat. Gujarat shares its boundary with 3 states, namely Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Maharashtra. People living in the boundary areas use languages similar to those of these states. In itself, Gujarati has eleven dialects, which are spoken in various regions of the state. Other languages that are spoken in Gujarat are Hindi, Marathi, Marwari, Sindi, and Urdu. In the Kutch region, people have a different mother tongue known as Kachchi.

Note: Gujarati is among the 22 official languages of India, which means it is included in the eighth schedule of the Indian Constitution. It is also recognized among 14 regional languages of India. Along with the state of Gujarat, this language is also spoken in Dadar and Nagar Haveli (UT) and Daman and Diu (UT).
