Hint:The fibres are taken from the cotton wool and twisted. The formed wires are known as yarn. Then these yarns used to make fabric by arranging together or making interlocks between yarns.

Complete answer
Cotton wool is gained in the form of cotton balls from cotton plants. From this mass, cotton is picked by hands. Then fibres and seeds are separated from each other by combing. This process is known as ginning. The fibres are drawn out and are twisted to bind together to form a yarn. The process used for making yarn from the fibres known as spinning.

Spinning can be done by various methods:
i) By hand.
ii) By takli.
iii) By charkha.
iv) By machines.

The yarn is used to make fabric. The fabric is prepared from yarn by two methods:
i) Weaving: The method when two sets of yarn arranged together to form a fabric is known as weaving. The weaving process is done on looms. Looms are both hand-operated as well as machine operated.
ii) Knitting: Interlocking the loops of two yarns to bind them together with the help of needles is known as knitting. Knitting is done by hands or machines both. A sweater is made by the knitting process.

Therefore, the steps involved in the preparation of fabric are,
>Obtaining fibre from plants.
>Making yarn from fibre.
>Weaving or knitting to form fabric from yarn.

Note: The threads are made up of thinner strands that are known fibres. Fabrics are made up of fibres. Based on the origin of fibres, the fibres are of two types: synthetic and natural. Jute and Cotton are extracted from plants and silk and wool are gained from animals, so these fibres are known as natural fibres.
