The movement was strict to be based on non-violent lines and was decided to be continued until complete freedom was achieved. Two days before the Chauri Chaura incident the protestors who took part in the Non-Cooperation Movement rebelled against high food prices and selling of liquor in the marketplace. This is how the Chauri Chaura incident started.
