Complete step by step answer:
“Cooking is about creating something delicious for someone else.”- Ayumi Komura. One cannot realize this until one tries his or her hands in cooking. Although since childhood I have a passion for cooking, there is one cooking experience that will always hold a very special position in my heart. In the year 2012, I had got an opportunity to assist in preparation of meals during the Durga Puja festivals. It was decided that every guest who came for the meal was to be given a complete Bengali thali, instead of the general bhog food.
The meal had to include several delicacies from West Bengal, like the sweet pulao, plain masoor dal, fried potatoes, different types of vadas to be made from coconut, dhania leaves, posto made from poppy seeds, beans bharta, steamed paneer, chutney from raw mangoes and rasgulla. I was asked to assist in making beans bharta. I was asked to crush the beans and coconut for mixing for the recipe. For the first time, I was asked to use a mortar to crush and I had injured my fingers while trying to lift the heavy mortar. But I still managed to pull through and complete the whole crushing process, after which I was asked to add salt and turmeric in the pan. I did not know the quantity and added more than needed. But nonetheless, we were able to prepare that dish for at least 400 people. In the end of the day, when we received lots of praises for the dishes, I realized that all the hardwork and pain did not go in vain and learnt that there was always greater satisfaction in feeding a large number of people.
Note: You need not state the recipe of the dish you made or the ingredients required for a recipe. What matters in the question is the feeling that you had while you prepared the meal.
