Hint: PRL stands for Physical Research Laboratory. It is a research institute working on fields related to astronomy and astrophysics, atmospheric sciences and aeronomy, Earth sciences, Solar System studies, and theoretical physics. I was founded just after a few months of independence.

Complete step by step solution:
The Physical Research Laboratory (PRL) is a National Research Institute for space and allied sciences, supported by the Department of Space, Government of India. In this research institute, people are doing research on astronomy and astrophysics, atmospheric sciences and aeronomy, Earth sciences, Solar System studies, and theoretical physics. It also manages the Udaipur Solar Observatory which is located in Ahmedabad.
It was founded by Dr. Vikram Sarabhai November 11, 1947, in the M. G. Science College, Ahmedabad, with support from the Karmakshetra Educational Foundation and the Ahmedabad Education Society. In the beginning, at PRL, research was done on Cosmic Rays and the properties of the Upper Atmosphere. Later, research in Theoretical Physics and Radio Physics was added with grants from the Atomic Energy Commission.
The Physical Research Laboratory carries out various seminars and public lectures throughout the year. It has a workshop, computer center, library, and various other laboratory facilities. It also offers a five-year doctoral programme (Ph.D.) in physics, with specializations in theoretical physics and complex systems, outer space and atmospheric sciences, quantum optics and quantum information, astronomy, and astrophysics. The admission is done through a written test and the interview.
