Hint: M-Potential energy is an object that can store energy of its position. An object holds the energy because of its position relative to other objects or stresses within itself or other factors.
Formula used:
\[W = mgh\]
Where,
\[m\]is mass in kilograms
\[g\]is the acceleration due to gravity
\[h\]is the height in meters
Complete step-by-step solution:
The potential energy is the energy of the body at rest in its position. It is work in the body to the state of rest or position of an object. Potential energy is one of the two forms of energy, along with kinetic energy.
Work done of an object = force * displacement
So,
\[W = mgh\]
The work done on an object is equal to \[mgh\], the energy gained by the object because of potential energy \[E\].
\[E\] of an object raised to a height \[h\] above the ground = \[mgh\].
There are two types of potential energy they are,
Gravitational potential energy
Elastic potential energy
Unit of Potential energy:
The S.I unit of potential energy is Joules \[(J)\].
It is energy stored in matter. A joule is a unit of potential energy and equal to \[\left( {kg \times {m^2}/{s^2}} \right)\]. The common symbol for potential energy is \[P.E,U\] or \[V\] .
Note: Potential Energy is the energy processed by the body due to its configuration. The S.I unit is Joule. The gravitational potential energy of an object depends on its mass and its distance from the center. The elastic potential energy of a spring converts into kinetic energy on its mean position.
