- New English Colonies
- Middle Colonies
- Southern Colonies

The New English Colonies included;
- Province of Massachusetts Bay – It was formed in 1691 and it gave rise to the present-day states of Massachusetts and Maine.
- Province of New Hampshire – It was formed in 1629 and it gave rise to the present-day state of New Hampshire.
- Connecticut Colony – It was established in 1636 and it formed the present-day state of Connecticut.
Colony of Rhode Island – It was formed in 1663 and it gave rise to the present-day state of Rhode Island.

The Middle Colonies included;
- Delaware Colony – It was established in 1664 and it gave rise to the present-day state of Delaware.
- Province of New York – It was formed in 1664 and it gave rise to the present-day states of New York and Vermont.
- Province of New Jersey – It was formed in 1664 and separated in to East and West Jersey in 1674. They both merged together in 1702 and are presently known as New Jersey.
- Province of Pennsylvania – It was formed is 1681 and it is presently known as the state of Pennsylvania.

The Southern Colonies include;
- Colony and Dominion of Virginia – It was formed in 1607 and it later gave rise to the states of Virginia, West Virginia and Kentucky.
- Province of Maryland – It was established in 1642 and is presently known as Maryland.
- Province of North Carolina – It was separated in 1712 from Carolina which was formed in 1651. It later gave rise to the present-day states of North Carolina and Tennessee.
- Province of South Carolina – It was also separated in 1712 from Carolina and is now known as South Carolina.
- Province of Georgia – It was established in 1732 and it is presently known as Georgia.
