Complete Step by Step Answer - Kaveri or Cauvery river, is one of the important and sacred rivers passing through three states, namely Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala.
It originates in the Brahmagiri Hills of the Western Ghats in the Kodagu District of Karnataka. It finally drains itself into the Bay of Bengal near Cuddalore in Tamil Nadu. It flows for a length of 800 km and drains a basin of 81,155-kilometre square area. Some of its tributaries are Harangi, Hemavati, Kabini, Bhavani, Lakshmana Tirtha, Noyyal and Arkavati. After Godavari and Krishna, it is the third-largest river in south India. The river is considered a Goddess and worshipped as such in south India. It is held in great reverence in Hinduism and is mentioned several times in the Sangam Literature.
