Hint: In order to find the amount she got back from the shopkeeper first we need to find the amount she spent on the purchasing of the vegetables. For that we will note the quantity of the vegetables and their rate per kg. Product of quantity and rate will give us the amount she spent on the shopping of vegetables. So let’s calculate the bill and subtract it from five hundred and give the amount Rachana received back from the shopkeeper.

Complete step by step solution:
Given that
Rate of onions per kg is Rs.10
Quantity she purchased is \[2\dfrac{1}{2}kg\]
So she spent \[ = Rs.10 \times 2\dfrac{1}{2}\] for onions.
On solving we get,
\[ = 10 \times \dfrac{5}{2} = 5 \times 5 = Rs.25\] for onion.
Now for buying potato,
Rate of potato per kg is \[Rs.16\dfrac{8}{{11}}\]
Quantity she purchased is \[1\dfrac{3}{8}kg\]
So she spent \[ = Rs.1\dfrac{3}{8} \times 16\dfrac{8}{{11}}\] for potato.
On solving we get,
\[ = \dfrac{{11}}{8} \times \dfrac{{184}}{{11}} = \dfrac{{184}}{8} = Rs.23\] this much amount on potatoes.
Now overall the sum of amount she spent for buying the vegetables is
\[ = Rs.25 + Rs.23 = Rs.48\]
Now the money she would receive back from the shopkeeper will be given by
\[ = 500 - 48 = Rs.452\]
This is our answer.
So, the correct answer is “Rs.452”.

Note: Note that here the problem is very easy to solve but only the thing is the quantity and rates are given in mixed fraction form. So first convert it into improper fraction and then solve them, since we are given a rate of per kg so we will just multiply it with the quantity of vegetables. Also note that we are asked to find the amount received back and not the amount she spent only. so do find the correct answer. Don’t just stop by finding the amount she spent on buying the vegetables.
