Hint: The process that involves the exchange of gases through inhalation and exhalation is known as breathing. It is the process of intake of oxygen and Liberation of carbon dioxide by which energy is produced and there are different types of respiration.

Complete answer:
Respiration is the process defined as the biochemical process in which a cell of an organism obtains energy from oxygen and glucose and in return releases ATP, carbon dioxide, and water. The energy is used for various daily activities such as walking, running, sitting, and almost all bodily functions. It plays a critical role in maintaining the functions of our organ system.
Respiration in humans is defined as the inhalation of air that passes through nostrils in two nasal cavities and then into the lungs through the windpipe. Breathing is part of the respiration process which is simply inhalation or exhalation of air. The respiratory organs are responsible for the exchange of gases which vary in different organisms during inhalation. Our lungs expand and then come back to their original state as the air moves out during exhalation.
External respiration is the process of respiration that occurs between cells and the external environment, and this involves breathing that can never occur in the absence of oxygen; it involves gas exchange.
Internal respiration occurs only in cells of the body that do not involve breathing and it can occasionally occur in the absence of oxygen which does not involve any gas exchange.

Note:
So respiration is the process of exchange of gases through inhalation and exhalation which is known as simple breathing but in respiration, the energy is also produced that is obtained from the breakdown of glucose into carbon dioxide and water. Respiration is known as breathing which is the process of inhaling oxygen from the air to the lungs and expelling out the carbon dioxide from the lungs to air internal respiration is the process in which food is broken down in the body cell through various chemical reactions.
