Hint: if we join any two points on the circle to the centre of the circle then the portion of circumference between these two points will be called the arc of the circle. We will learn more about the minor arcs, major arcs and semicircle arcs.
Complete step by step answer:
We are given a circle with centre at O, we have to tell which is the minor arc, major arc and semicircle arc.
A minor arc is an arc which is smaller than a semicircle. A central angle which is subtended by the end points of a minor arc has a measure less than 180°. On contrary to this A major arc is an arc which is more than a semicircle. A central angle which is subtended by the end points of a major arc has a measure more than 180.
Looking in the diagram of circle we can say that if we join point X with Point O,
So, if you consider length QX will be the minor arc of this circle. Then length QRX will be the major arc, similarly if we join OP, and say QXP is the minor arc then length QRP will be the major arc of this circle
Now the semicircle arcs it means both the end points of the chord are exactly opposite to each other, making an angle exactly 180 degree at centre. So, length QPR is the semicircle arc.
Note: If the minor arc produces an angle x at centre then the major arc will produce 360-x degree at centre. Sum of minor arc and major arc is equal to the circumference of the circle.
