Hint: Spinal cord is connected to the hindbrain region, for harmonious functioning of the nervous system.

Compete answer:
The statement is false, the spinal cord originates from the medulla. The hindbrain has three parts: the pons, cerebellum and medulla (also called the medulla oblongata). Pons interconnect different regions of the brain with fibre tracts. Cerebellum has a very convoluted surface in order to provide the additional space for many more neurons. The medulla of the hindbrain joins with the spinal cord. The medulla controls respiration, cardiovascular reflexes and gastric secretions as it has centres present.

Additional Information :
Spinal cord is the structure which is present in the neural anal of vertebral column. The adult's spinal cord is 42 to 45 cm long and 2 cm thick.
Functions of the spinal cord are -
Electrical communication - It conducts and sends electrical signals and acts as a mediator between the body and brain.
Walking - A collection of muscle groups in the legs are constantly contracting. These central pattern generators in the spinal cord are made up of neurons which send signals to the muscles in the legs, making them extend or contract, and produce the alternating movements which occur when a person walks.
Reflexes - It is responsible for the reflexe that are generated due to the external stimuli like if your hand comes in contact with the hot object you immediately remove it. It is due to the spinal cord.

Note :
1. The brain is divided into forebrain, midbrain and hindbrain.
2. Midbrain and hindbrain form the brainstem.
3. Central Nervous System (CNS) includes the brain and the spinal cord and is the site of information processing and control.
