Hint: The first Rohilla war is seen as a campaign that was led by Shuja-ud-Daula, the then Nawab of Awadh on the behalf of Mughal Emperor. There were two Rohilla wars in Indian history. The second war took place in 1794.

Complete Step by Step answer: First Rohilla war took place in the year 1773. The First Rohilla War of 1773–1774 is considered as a campaign which was headed by Shuja-ud-Daula, Nawab of Awadh. He launched it on the behalf of Mughal Emperor. Rohillas were led by Hafiz Rahmat Ali Khan. Afghan highlanders settled in Rohilkhand and fought against the Rohillas, in northern India. Warren Hastings who was the British governor-general of Bengal at that time, helped the nawab defeat the Rohillas by lending a troop of the East India Company. As a consequence, Rohilkhand was captured by Awadh and because of this, many Rohillas left their land and had to flee. Majority migrated across river Ganga. Lastly, the British supervised the state of Rohilla, which was set up in Rampur and Faizullah Khan became the ‘Nawab’ of Rampur.

The correct option is Option “a”.

Note: The second Rohilla war was fought between the British and the Rohillas of Rampur. It took place in 1794. India was under Britishers that time and John Shore was the governor-general. The fate of the Rohillas was decided on 26th October at Bithura when they were defeated by the British troops.
