Hint: The main function of the kidney is to filter blood, remove wastes from it, and produce urine, which is then excreted from the body.

Complete Answer:
Nephrons are the structure and functional unit of the kidney. It is responsible for maintaining the osmotic balance of the body. It consists of the following parts- Malpighian corpuscle, Proximal convoluted tubule, Distal convoluted tubule, Henle’s loop, Glomerulus, collecting duct.
The kidney is divided into three regions
(I) Renal cortex- It is the outermost region of the kidney between the renal capsule and the renal medulla. The space present inside contains blood vessels that connect to the nephron. It contains glomerular capillaries, PCT, DCT.
(II) Renal Medulla –It is the innermost region of the kidney which is arranged in pyramid-like structures. It consists of a bulk of nephron structures, especially the Henle’ loop.
(III) Renal Pelvis- It is the concave part of the bean shaped kidney called the helium where the nerves and blood vessels enter and exit from the kidney.

The correct answer is (D). The renal medulla contains Henle’s loop.

Additional Information: Juxtamedullary nephrons are the nephrons whose specific location is renal medulla. It is found only in birds and mammals. It comprises about 15% of nephrons in the human kidney.

Note: The Henle’s loop begins in the cortex, extends into the medulla as descending limb and then returns to the cortex as the ascending limb. Its main function is to concentrate the urine.
