Hint: In physics, energy is defined as the ability to do work. Here we will understand about all these energies in brief. From the word tidal it is clear that it refers to tides, ocean energy refers to the energies from the ocean and geothermal energy refers to the one from the interior of the Earth.

(i) Tidal Energy: It can refer to the energy which is produced from using tides. Tides are more predictable than the wind and the Sun. So, it can be used very accurately. In the early time, it was not much used as the process was very costly. But due to modern technologies, it is more economical now. Turbine mills are used to generate electricity by using the mechanical energy of the mill, which is being rotated by the tides.

(ii) Ocean Energy: It refers to the combination of all the energy that we can get from the ocean. It involves the ocean waves energy, which are captured by the converters which trap the wave motion of the water, and drive turbines with it. Hence, forms energy. It also constitutes tidal energy, salinity gradient energy and more.

(iii) Geothermal energy: It refers to the thermal energy which originates from the Earth’s crust. The high temperature and pressure inside the Earth’s interior causes the formation of this heat energy. It is estimated that the geothermal energy of the Earth is more than the need of human civilization’s energy.

Note: It must be noted that the energy from any source cannot be directly used by humans. We have to convert these energy sources to desired energy output to take benefit from these. The use of hydroelectric energy and solar energy are most common in use today as they are more economical.
