Hint: In this question we need to use the concept of percentage. So, for the same we will use the percent formula which is Value=\[\dfrac{\left( Percent\times number \right)}{100}\] .Direct substitution of values in this formula will give us the appropriate result.
Complete step-by-step answer:
Now, in this question we can see that we need to find the percent of some number So, according to formula we have,
Given Percent is =40%
And number of which we want the percent portion is =2500
So, now putting these values in formula of value we get,
Value=\[\dfrac{\left( Percent\times number \right)}{100}\]
$Value=\dfrac{\left( 40\times 2500 \right)}{100}$ (We have removed the % symbol since we have divided by 100 in denominator)
Now multiplying 40 and 2500 we get
$= \dfrac{100000}{100}$
And now dividing with 100 will give us the decimal value that is,
$= 1000$
$= $ Hence our required answer is that $40%$ of $2500$ is 1000.
Note: Students majorly forget to imply this formula and directly use the percentage formula and substitute the value in the wrong way and get the wrong answer. Secondly, students forget to remove the percent symbol while putting the value of Percent. It must be taken care that the calculation portion is done in an appropriate manner that reduces chances of error like first solve the bracket only, don't just see 100 in the denominator and accordingly apply decimal places and then multiply in decimals which may give large decimal values if the value is large enough.
We can also verify this like what percent of 2500 is 25 and we will get the ans as $40%$ using the percentage formula which is,
Percentage=$\dfrac{number}{total}\times 100$ .
