Asia’s largest colony in terms of area is the Kankarbagh colony. It is situated in Patna in the Bihar state. It spreads around an area of 900 acres. The colony is the second largest in terms of population. The colony is occupied by residents and falls under the residential category.

The place is given the name Kankarbagh as it has many gardens of stone (kankar). It was established in 1916 and includes various small and big colonies. It spreads from Kumhrar in the East to Panch shiv mandir in the west.

There are many residential and commercial buildings in the colony. It has an urban touch to it as they have several South Indian restaurants and cafes. There are numerous recreational sites and shopping complexes in the colony. This place is also a favourite for fitness enthusiasts as it has a well-equipped gym named Mutants gym. The place is a storehouse for parks. It has approximately 30 – 35 parks. From these, Shivaji park, Kumhrar park, and Lohia park are famous among the locals.

Kankarbagh colony has well-developed transport connectivity. It is connected to the main city of Patna via buses. It also has a suburban Railway station called Rajendra Nagar terminal. The Patna railway station is only a kilometre away and the Patna airport is 8.65 kilometres from Kankarbagh.
